If my friends were ever asked to describe me, I’m sure the term “morning person” would come up more than once. I work a 9 to 5 job and have multiple side hustles that occupy most of my time. So it has become harder to schedule a little me time. Queue my morning routine.
Back in the day I remember setting my alarm for 20 minutes before I had to leave, hitting the snooze button once or twice, and (once I was finally up) rushing to get ready. I would leave my house feeling anxious and scatter brained. Something had to change. I made the decision to start waking up earlier. Not only did it help me transition into my day but it also elevates my mood and boosts my overall productivity. My mornings have become sacred and my ritual is necessary.
One thing to note is that it’s not about how many things you can fit into your ritual. It’s about the quality. How does each thing make you feel? Are you able to stay present? Is it serving you?
My Morning Routine:
Getting down to the nitty gritty.
4:00am – Alarm goes off. It’s time for a quick stretch paired with a glass of water.
4:15am – I let my pup out to potty, while I get ready for my workout. (A change of clothes, I take my Formula nootropics, another glass of water, and some preworkout.)
4:30am to 5:30am – An epic at home workout with Caroline Girvan.
5:30am to 6:00am – Make my favorite Iced Chai Protein Shake and clean using the One Day at A Time Cleaning Hack
6:00am to 6:15am – Lighting my favorite candle, putting on some Headspace focus music, and enjoying 15 minutes of uninterrupted journaling.
6:15am to 7:00am – Put on a podcast or audiobook and get ready for work. (I usually listen to wellness / mindset podcasts while I get ready.)
